Oh dear, this month was not good for reading. I did read some great books, I just didn’t read many books at all. The reading slump seems to be holding on, I thought I had defeated it, but it would appear to be holding strong. I think I may also have a bit of a book hangover from one of the books I read as well. So, in last months TBR post I listed all the books I was hoping to review as my TBR, however the reading slump got so bad that I did have to postpone most of the reviews until a later date. I hate doing this but I just was really unable to get myself to sit down and read- I cant even say I’ve been distracted by something, lately I’ve just wanted to sleep a lot!
I managed a total of four books this month in the end, which isn’t a great number, but with the slump I was in any books was good. Hoping that next month (in the new house) will be a lot better..
- Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel
- Across Great Divides by Monique Roy
- Waking Gods by Sylvain Neuvel
- Anatomy of Innocence by Laura Caldwell
There isn’t really overly much to say on these books as I don’t want to do a ‘least favourite’ out of these- they are so very different that I don’t feel it will be right. My easy favourite was actually Sleeping Gods- which was a reread. I also loved the sequel of course, but there is something about Sleeping Gods that the more I think back over it, its definitely the better for me.
So onto next month that I’m hoping and praying will be better that the last!! May is a busy one for reviews, as I’m hoping to read seven books for review. Plus at the end of the month, I’m going to try and make a kick out of my personal TBR shelf, which is becoming most of my shelves. So here are the ones I’m going to be reviewing…
- The Run-out Groove by Andrew Cartmel
- Trust Me by Gemma Metcalfe
- The Idea of You by Amanda Prowse
- Kings Obsession by Alison Weir
- The Women of the Castle by Jessica Shattuck
- The Sisters of Battle Road by JM Maloney
- The Beautiful Dead by Belinda Bauer
I guess we will see if I manage it all this month, as my track record has not been great while I’ve been sorting out the move, but I move in less then 2 days so it should all begin to get easier to focus. What are you reading this month?
To get May off to a really good start you should try The Age of Olympus! Just for fun!

I found myself in a reading slump, a month or two ago, not fun! Hope you manage to bounce back from it soon and make a dent in your TBR pile in May.
