Who can not love a good fantasy novel? This one sure is a good example of a book that has a little bit everyone. Cant say I’ve read that many urban fantasies, normally the fantasy I read is set in an almost medieval world so I found this quite refreshing from the normal things I read. This is definitely a cracking first book to what looks to have the capabilities of being a fabulous series.I want to start this with sending out a big thank you to Lydia at Titan Books for sending me a free copy of this book for review and giving me the opportunity to bring you a very exciting giveaway!!
‘Out of the spotlight, in the darker corners of the studio backlots, Hollywood hides a remarkable secret. Actor or actress, set designer, electrician, best boy, or grip, in la-la land, it pays not to be human. Vampires, succubae, trolls, elementals, goblins, studios hire anyone and anything that can take direction, be discreet, and not eat the extras. The less you know about your agent, the better. Though only human, stuntwoman and struggling actress Lee Striga is a member of the legendary Katz Stunt Crew. They’re the best in the biz, in part because they can fly, and boast superhuman strength. When Lee lands a job on the movie Pale Dreamer, however, not everyone is following the script. It’s up to her to figure out who – or what – is killing the cast and crew. Especially when Lee goes from stuntwoman to lead role… and the next target.’ (from Goodreads)
Sadly this novel was not without its faults as it was stricken with the curse of being the first in the series. Though that being said this was a fast paced, easy and yet highly addictive read that kept me glued to its pages through its entirety. With intriguing characters, a unique take on the modern world and what looks to be shaping up to be a fabulous premise, I cant help but be excited for the books to come later on.
All this book lacked was a bit more world and plot development, but in its place this novel was jammed pack full of character development and plot set up for Lee and what was to come.
